The Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, is a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a form of Lord Vishnu. Built in the 12th century by King Anantavarman Chodaganga, it’s famous for the annual Rath Yatra (chariot festival). The temple’s unique rituals and architecture attract millions of devotees.
- Location: Puri, a coastal town in Odisha, on the eastern coast of India.
- Deity: The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Lord Balabhadra (brother) and Goddess Subhadra (sister).
- Construction: The temple was built by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva of the Eastern Ganga dynasty in the 12th century. It is a fine example of Kalinga architecture, featuring a towering structure called the Vimana or Shikhara, which stands at about 214 feet (65 meters).
Rath Yatra (Chariot Festival):
The Rath Yatra is the most famous and grand festival associated with the Jagannath Temple. It takes place annually in the month of June or July (during the Hindu month of Ashadha). The festival involves the procession of the three deities on gigantic wooden chariots, which are pulled by devotees through the streets of Puri, from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple (about 3 km away).

- Goddess Subhadra’s chariot: Darpadalana.

Day 1 :
ARRIVAL BHUBANESWAR- DHAULI- PIPILI- SAKHIGOPAL- PURI
Arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport. Our Local representative will assist to you at the Airport. En route Puri by visiting Dhauli Peace Pagoda, Pipli Applique Work Market, Sakhigopal Temple. On arrival at Puri transfer to the Hotel Check-in at the hotel and enjoy rest of the day is at Golden Beach Puri. Overnight Stay at Puri.
Day 2 :
PURI DARSHAN & EXCURSION TRIP TO SATAPADA ON CHILIKA LAKE
Today Morning proceed for darshan at Shree Jagannath Temple (Only Hindus are allowed to enter inside the temple premises). Then visit Grand Road, Shree Gundicha Temple, Loknath temple & Narendra Tank. Then an excursion trip to Satapada on Chilika Lake for spotting Dolphins (take a boat to see the dolphins). On the return drive visit Alarnath Temple at Brahmagiri. Evening back to Hotel Overnight Stay at Puri
Day 3 :
PURI- KONARK- BHUBANESWAR SIGHTSEEING
Today enjoy your breakfast at Hotel post breakfast check-out from the hotel & drive to Bhubaneswar on the way you can visit Ramachandi Temple, Chandrabhaga Beach & UNESCO World Heritage Sun Temple at Konark. Proceed to Bhubaneswar & check-in to the hotel. Then Visit Khandagiri & Udaigiri Jain Rock Cut caves. Evening free for shopping. Overnight stay at will be in Bhubaneswar
Day 4:
BHUBANESWAR SIGHTSEEING & DEPARTURE
After morning breakfast at Bhubaneswar sightseeing temples covering Parshurameshwar, Mukteshwar, Rajarani & Lingaraj (Only Hindu’s are allowed to enter inside the temple premises). Then check-out from the hotel & visit Kalabhoomi Craft Museum (Closed on Monday & Govt. Holidays). Then departure transfer to Bhubaneswar airport to board the flight for onwards Destination.
